Fed-Ex the best

For those tennis lovers:
These are some amazing comparison statistics
for 2 players who are all substance and no ( or little ) style. My gut says
Fed-Ex is gonna be the best ever something a la Tendu in cricket.

PS: Is Sanya Mirza just a flash in the pan? Or can she live up to the
expecations?? I haven't seen her play at all. So, can't comment.

Channu and I saw Sania at the NY Open 05 in her 3rd match match. She seemed to have good temperament. Her forehand is powerful. Serve needs a lot of work. The thing that goes against her is unforced errors. She makes too many of them in an effort to pack too much power in her shots. I think if she can improve her serve and be a little intelligent about her game, and she will as she gains enough experience, she has a good chance of breaking into top 10. Seeing them live last fall it was pretty clear that if she wants to compete and beat top players like Maria, Williams, Clijters, Hardene, Maurismo or even Pierce, she has a long way to go. The hype about her in India has to do with her being the first female tennis player of some class. I think it will serve as a motivation for lot of young girls but she has a long way to go before she can repeat Muhammed Ali's words "It ain't bragging if you can do it".

In the spirit of "copy my .kshrc", there are some pictures in my album if you want to check 'em out.

  • The first line should read: "Channu and I saw Sania at the US Open 05 in her 3rd round match."

To give you a cricket analogy. Sania is like the current "India". It can beat "Australia" on an extremely good day but it has to go someways before it can become "Australia".
