Going Home

My definition of "home" is where family is. Specially these two.

I'm winding up at work. Will be leaving early. Got to catch a flight tomorrow morning. My sister is getting married so I'm sure there is hell of work waiting for me :-)

Will see you in about three weeks. In the mean time you stay healthy, eat well and keep the blog alive.

Take care!

Cool Tool - 2

Call me lazy but sometimes I find it too much work to go to an online dictionary to look up a word or even type "dict " in the firefox URL for that matter. I want to know the meaning of the word with minimum of keystrokes. Just highlight the word and the press the magic button and dictionary should appear magically!

Is it too much to ask? Not if you use this baby.

Smart Move

I think Apple made a wise decision to make dual boot Macs official. Everybody was going to do it anyway. All the more reason for your next computer to be Mac. I know mine would be!

  • Mac on Dell? *LOL* I don't see it happening. Why? Because this is what Michael Dell had to say back in 1997 when Apple was going thru a bad phase.

The fan

I saw few cricket matches in Bangalore and Mumbai. The conditions for the spectators were terrible. And that's putting it mildly. No roof to protect from the scorching sun, concrete steps to sit on, no food, no drink/water. We had to carry our own. At one time even plastic bottles were disallowed because some morons used them to harass the players fielding at the boundaries.

Despite all that the enthusiasm for cricket seems unabated. Check out the picture of Nehru stadium before the recent Ind/Eng ODI game in Goa. Don't you think it's about time BCCI stopped taking fans for granted?

The aftermath

If this article is to be believed, Alcatel/Lucent merger is going to have some far reaching effects. Excerpt below:

Nortel's new CEO, Mike Zafirovski, until recently the No. 2 executive at Motorola, could be looking to bulk up his company's offerings.

On his menu could be names like Juniper, Ciena, Tellabs, Sonus Networks and Foundry Systems.

Mark Sue, analyst with RBC Capital Markets, thinks that Extreme Networks, 3Com, Redback Networks, Avaya, and UTStarcom, are all possible takeover candidates.

Microsoft in its infancy

Somebody said
If wealth is lost, nothing is lost. If health is lost, something is lost. But, if character is lost, everything is lost.

Decide it for yourself.

The don

You probably keep hearing about the vigor with which Motion Picture Assoc. Of America (MPAA) and Recording Industries Assoc. Of America (RIAA) are trying to shutdown P2P tools such as Kazaa, Grokster and Napsters of the world. Now they have joined hands to form a new association. I don't know about you but the abbreviation just doesn't sound right.

The love is in the air

First it was the search. Then came the news, the groups, the photos, the videos, the mail... The list goes on. Here is the latest offering (Don't forget how the month of April starts though :-). And while they are at it, how about a new browser?
